McLendon-Covey will preside over the TCA’s first in-person event in five years—taking place on Friday, July 12, at The Langham Huntington in Pasadena.

2024 TCA Award Nominees

LOS ANGELES – June 10, 2024 – The Television Critics Association (TCA) announced today the nominees for the organization’s landmark 40TH Annual TCA Awards, putting the spotlight on the best performances, series, creators, and stars from the 2023-2024 TV season. The TCA is a non-profit organization of more than 230 professional television journalists from the U.S. and Canada. They made their nominations based on programming available on broadcast, cable, and streaming outlets. Winners will be announced at an exclusive ceremony held in-person at The Langham Huntington in Pasadena on Friday, July 12.

The TCA presents awards in 12 distinct categories, highlighting outstanding achievements in Drama; Comedy; Miniseries; News and Information; Reality; Variety, Sketch or Talk Shows, and more, headlined by the organization’s coveted Program of the Year Award. Two additional awards will be announced on July 12.

The Television Critics Association (TCA) announced today the winners of the organization’s 39TH Annual TCA Awards, celebrating the top television offerings from the 2022-2023 season. The winners were selected by the TCA’s membership of more than 200 TV journalists from across the United States and Canada. TCA summer tour, including the awards, was canceled. Wanting to acknowledge the winners from the 2022-23 television season, they are being released online.

HBO | Max’s acclaimed hit “Succession” came out on top of the ratings war in its final season, as it took home the TCA’s most-prestigious honor: Program Of The Year. The dysfunctional dynasty boardroom epic also appropriately added its second Outstanding Achievement In Drama Award to its growing list of accolades, fueled by high-stakes twists and conniving characters brought to life by an all-star ensemble.

2022 TCA Award winners

The Television Critics Association (TCA) announced today the winners of the organization’s 38TH Annual TCA Awards, recognizing the absolute best television offerings from the 2021-2022 season. The winners were selected by the TCA’s membership of more than 200 TV journalists from across the United States and Canada. The awards were announced virtually, due to concerns over the latest COVID strain.

ABC’s first-year public school sitcom “Abbott Elementary'' made the grade as the night’s top winner with four victories. The series took home some of the TCA’s highest honors including Individual Achievement In Comedy for series creator, producer, writer, and star, Quinta Brunson; as well as Outstanding Achievement In Comedy, Outstanding New Program, and the prestigious Program Of The Year Award. 

Other winners include “This Is Us” star Mandy Moore, who earned the award for Individual Achievement In Drama; acclaimed Disney+ rock doc “The Beatles: Get Back, which won the Outstanding Achievement In News And Information Award; CBS’ globe-hopping smash “The Amazing Race, which shared Outstanding Achievement In Reality Programming with HBO Max’s glam favorite “Legendary;” the surreal Netflix comedy “I Think You Should Leave With Tim Robinson, which left with Outstanding Achievement In Variety, Talk, Or Sketch; Hulu’s gripping opioid epic “Dopesick, which scored the award for Outstanding Movie, Miniseries Or Specials; HBO’s media dynasty hit “Succession, which took home Outstanding Achievement In Drama; and the Netflix adaptation “The Baby-Sitter’s Club, which pocketed Outstanding Achievement In Youth Programming for the second-consecutive year.

Today The Television Critics Association (TCA) announced the nominees for the organization’s 37TH Annual TCA Awards. The 2021 TCA Awards showcase a diverse roster of TV content across a wide array of platforms and genres, spotlighting outstanding creators, series, and stars of the 2020-2021 TV season. More than 200 TCA members, professional television critics and journalists from the United States and Canada, nominate programming available on broadcast, cable and streaming outlets

The TCA presents awards in 13 distinct categories, honoring outstanding achievements in drama, comedy, miniseries, youth, news and information, reality, and variety, sketch or talk shows, among others. Categories have been expanded this year to feature a total of eight nominees each, with the exception of “Outstanding Achievement In Variety, Talk Or Sketch,” which has nine. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the TCA will forego its formal in-person presentation once again. Winners will instead be announced at a later date.

The Television Critics Association Rescinds Bill Cosby’s 2002 Career Achievement Award

LOS ANGELES – Tuesday, September 25, 2018 –The Television Critics Association (TCA) voted overwhelmingly to rescind the Career Achievement Award bestowed to Bill Cosby in 2002. The move comes at the start of the comedian’s sentencing hearing on September 24, after he was found guilty of sexual abuse in April 2018. The revocation of the honor will be noted in the organization’s official online records.

For over 30 years the media organization of more than 200 professional TV critics and journalists from the United States and Canada has recognized outstanding television programming and actors in a variety of categories. This includes the prestigious Career Achievement Award, which is presented to an individual who has influenced television through his or her work on the small screen. Cosby received that award in 2002. This marks the first time the TCA has repealed an award.
