Television Critics Association (TCA) members voted last Friday to amend its bylaws to prohibit generative AI usage in members' work and expand membership criteria to include new forms of content creation.

Recognizing changes in media, TCA—a nonprofit, member-run organization of more than 220 people who cover TV—now welcomes "professional television critics, reporters, writers, editors, and/or hosts who produce insightful, ethical, high-quality television criticism, reporting, and coverage that is distributed to the public." That includes podcasters and creator-journalists whose work appears across mediums, such as e-mail newsletters and vertical video.

LOS ANGELES –June 12, 2026 – The Television Critics Association (TCA) announced today the nominees for the organization’s 42nd Annual TCA Awards, honoring standout series and stars from the 2025-2026 television season. Winners will be announced later this summer across TCA’s social media.

TCA is a non-profit organization of more than 220 professional television journalists from across the United States and Canada. Nominations were determined solely by a vote of members, selected from shows distributed on major broadcast, cable, and streaming platforms from June 1, 2025 to May 31, 2026.

The Television Critics Association (TCA) has unveiled a fresh new logo ahead of next week’s announcement of the 41st Annual TCA Award winners, which will be unveiled across the organization’s social media.

The new identity was created by designer and illustrator Rosie Lin, working with TCA’s board of directors. TCA members voted on the final brandmark, an innovative design that simultaneously pays tribute to television’s incredible past while emphasizing the organization’s focus as it looks ahead to a dynamic future.

TCA’s new look makes its debut just in time for the organization to announce the winners of its annual TCA Awards on Wednesday, August 20.

They made their nominations based on programming available on broadcast, cable, and streaming outlets. Winners will be announced at an exclusive ceremony held in-person at The Langham Huntington in Pasadena on Friday, July 12.

The TCA presents awards in 12 distinct categories, highlighting outstanding achievements in Drama; Comedy; Miniseries; News and Information; Reality; Variety, Sketch or Talk Shows, and more, headlined by the organization’s coveted Program of the Year Award. ABC’s first-year public school sitcom “Abbott Elementary'' made the grade as the night’s top winner with four victories. The series took home some of the TCA’s highest honors including Individual Achievement In Comedy for series creator, producer, writer, and star, Quinta Brunson; as well as Outstanding Achievement In Comedy, Outstanding New Program, and the prestigious Program Of The Year Award.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the TCA will forego its formal in-person presentation once again. Winners will instead be announced at a later date.
